Crew (Review) – The Crew Will Successfully Land in Your Heart

Crew is a lighthearted heisty comedy that promises an enjoyable ride filled with laughter. Directed by Rajesh A Krishnan, the film boasts of a talented ensemble cast like Tabu, Kareena and Kriti. An entertaining storyline that keeps the audience engaged. Screenplay keeps the momentum going, aided by good editing that ensures a seamless flow of events. Dialogues are good, although there’s a missing opportunity for more humour in the script. While the story presents ample opportunities for comedic moments, the humour feels somewhat limited in the film.

It is a delight to watch three actresses in  Crew from different schools of acting together and having a blast. Particularly I must mention Tabu and Kareena Kapoor. Kareena Kapoor as Jasmine is someone who is unapologetically greedy. She does not mind presenting herself as rich, at the same time there is a big loneliness underneath her feisty nature. She did a brilliant job in portraying the different shades. Tabu as Geeta is caught between dreams and responsibilities by her usual brilliant self. Kriti Sanon is also fairly good particularly in the scenes where her character has to show the moral dilemmas. There is a strong sense of sisterhood with crackling chemistry. The men are also good in spite of the limited screen time. Diljit Dosanjh is so charming as the custom officer smitten with Kriti Sanon’s character.

The direction is genuinely good at times. Rajesh Krishnan’s slapstick comedy lands well but the limitations of the writing do hold him back.
Loved the songs of Crew like Naina, Choli Ke Peeche and Kiddan Zaalima. Sona Kitna Sona Hai is good when it’s being played in the film.

Overall,  Crew is an enjoyable heist comedy that delivers laughs and entertainment, albeit with some missed opportunities for greater humour. With its talented cast and vibrant presentation, “Crew” is worth a watch for those needing a good laugh. The film is now available on Netflix, then go, watch and enjoy your weekend.
